abstract = {The introduction of open and standardized service delivery platforms (SDPs) is a key element towards the highly anticipated convergence of Internet and telecommunication networks. SDPs provide applications with a middleware in the form of open APIs or Web services to facilitate access to heterogeneous network infrastructure in a common manner. However, new challenges have emerged regarding the robustness of such platforms against potential security threats and other types of failures which could affect service availability. Current approaches in testing Web services target stateless unit-level testing and tend to focus on compliance of SOAP/XML data to the Web service's WSDL schema. We propose to address service level tests by a pattern-driven test modeling approach which allows a stateful testing on service level and which reduces the development cycle of SOA tests. The approach is built around a UML
meta-model embodying test patterns, i.e. recurrent solutions in specifying tests. This allows to specify test requirements based on known vulnerabilities and attack patterns at the same level of abstraction as the services under test, so that the focus can be put on availability aspects. Using examples from Parlay-X Web services, we demonstrate how TTCN-3 test scripts can be generated automatically from the abstract test models to facilitate test deployment.},
